About
OUR BIRTH STORY…
The Lemon Grove was birthed from the original Lemons & Labor doula & photography business that owner & founder Marissa Hathaway started. Marissa comes from a career in global & local maternal health, trauma-informed care, and health education.
In 2023, Marissa founded the doula agency component of The Lemon Grove - an expansion of doula & community support, centered around a trauma-informed & evidence-based approach to supporting families across the perinatal span. We are a zesty team of uniquely experienced doulas, passionate about accessibility, straightforward communication, compassionate accompaniment, and judgment-free & resource-rich care. Through heartfelt collaboration, we aim to establish confidence and empowered decision-making in our community. In 2024, we opened the doors to the perinatal wellness collaborative - our physical space in Boxford, MA, where we host childbirth education, lactation, and parenting classes, fun activities for babies and toddlers with music, play, and education, and events for parents in the community.
Why the lemons? A note from Marissa:
“My maternal grandmother and I share the same birthday, and she liked lemons. Over the years, I have adopted the lemon as part of my identity, and even had a lemon inspired wedding! To me, lemons are not only the sentimental thread connecting me to my grandmother’s memory, but are also a symbol of refreshment, vitality, beauty, healing, the yin and yang of sweet and tart, and under the right conditions, can be grown anywhere. I am an active gardener and many of those philosophies transcend beyond a yard - I enjoy the practice of cultivating the environment around me, connecting with resources to ensure my “gardens” thrive in every sense, and to nourish people so they flourish.
This is our approach to supporting you at The Lemon Grove.”
Meet The Team
At The Lemon Grove, we provide professional, holistic doula support for every step of your unique perinatal journey. With an orchard of resources, we offer personalized, community-based care through labor & birth doula services, postpartum doula services, breastfeeding support/formula feeding support, prenatal education courses, and more.
Many of our doulas also facilitate our support groups & other events - let’s layer in as much community as we can for you!

Courtney E.
Certified Full Spectrum Doula
*Trained by Marissa Hathaway/The Lemon Grove
she/her
Courtney is a certified Full Spectrum Doula, certified through The Lemon Grove Full Spectrum doula training. After graduating with a BA in Sociology and Social Work, she spent the last ten years working in the healthcare field. She has seen firsthand how wonderful having the right team can be, while also witnessing how easy it is for individuals to feel overwhelmed or uncertain while navigating within the healthcare world.
Courtney is a mom of four, with three living children and one in heaven. With each pregnancy, she realized how much the experiences of pregnancy, birth and postpartum differed each time, even for the same person. She was inspired to become a doula in 2022, after the loss of her daughter. Finding the right support and connecting to the right resources was a job within itself. Especially for a grieving family. In 2023, she gave birth to another daughter and her pregnancy after loss experience solidified her decision to become a doula.
Courtney’s hope is to provide knowledge, care, and a nonjudgemental set of ears to every person and/or couple she supports. She’d like to empower families by allowing them the space to ask any questions, talk through any uncertainties, and express all of their joys, hopes and fears.
When she’s not doula-ing, you can typically find Courtney at a youth sports practice/game or at a library storytime. While she knows parenthood is the busiest, she firmly believes that taking time for yourself is a game changer. It can root us back to who we are outside of “parent”. When she can, she enjoys pilates, baking, reading, and interior design.
Courtney understands that pregnancy, birth and postpartum are some of the most delicate times we experience as human beings. While beautiful, awe inspiring and life changing, they are also times of great vulnerability. Human connection is one of the greatest gifts and she hopes her connection with the families she supports will provide some level of peace, confidence and strength as they walk through this journey together.Support Area: Southern NH, Merrimack Valley, Greater Boston

These values are central to Destiny’s practice, where inclusivity means every family she serves feels seen, respected, and supported—exactly as they are. She supports families from all backgrounds through every stage, offering both labor and postpartum care.
She encourages practices of stress management, relationship building, and continued mental health care before birth and beyond, recognizing that emotional wellness is just as vital as physical preparation.
With a degree in Mental Health and Counseling, Destiny is also trained to detect and support clients who may be experiencing perinatal mental health challenges or stressors. Her background allows her to hold compassionate, trauma-informed space while connecting families to the resources and tools they need to feel supported during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Jillian H.
Certified Full Spectrum Doula
*Trained by Marissa Hathaway/The Lemon Grove
she/herJillian Hannon is a registered nurse, mother of two boys, and certified full spectrum doula through The Lemon Grove. After spending over a decade in emergency and critical care nursing, her own personal experience through recurrent pregnancy loss, IVF, pregnancy after loss and postpartum changed everything for her. Those experiences showed her just how meaningful it can be to have someone help steady you through uncertainty. Someone to walk beside you, so you feel a little less alone. That experience ultimately led her into doula work and continues to guide the way she cares for families today.
Jillian combines evidence-based knowledge with compassionate, nonjudgmental support to help families feel informed and empowered. She has a special heart for those navigating challenges in building their family and understands firsthand how deeply these experiences can shape the way people move through pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood. Kate R.
Certified Postpartum Doula
she/her
Kate is a kind, attentive, dedicated doula, who loves supporting parents and their babies. Being a doula comes full circle for her - she started nursing school to eventually became a midwife but then shifted her path to being a school teacher for many years. Kate loved helping her students find their passion for learning & self-confidence.
After teaching, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and focused on elder care. Similar to her teaching approach, Kate’s elder care was focused on building relationships and trust. Her reliability, relentlessly cheerfulness and levelheadedness allowed her to support families and individuals through challenging situations such as dementia, isolation, and loss of independence.
As a doula, Kate brings this approach to her work and is attune to others, so she meets them wherever they’re at. Sometimes that means holding space for a new parent who is feeling overwhelmed, other times that means literally holding a baby so that parents can sleep. Having a new baby can be a really vulnerable time and Kate is here as an extra set of hands to care for the whole family and to remind parents to care for themselves. She is there to take the pressure off and to share tips, if needed.
Outside of doula work, Kate loves being with family, doing family trips, cooking, learning new things, and binge watching a good show. Her advice to new parents is to remember you are doing an amazing job and will learn from the baby what he/she needs.

Megan S.B.
Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula
she/her
Megan is a certified birth and postpartum doula, health coach, and natural foods chef who is passionate about supporting families through every stage of their parenting journey. Drawing from both professional training and personal experience, she creates a safe, nonjudgmental, inclusive, and evidence-based space where clients feel supported, informed, and empowered.
A mother of two girls and a German shepherd owner, Megan originally began her journey in maternal support while working at a mother-and-baby boutique in New York. There, she connected with countless families who shared intimate stories about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum life. While many stories were joyful and inspiring, others revealed gaps in support that deeply impacted her and ultimately inspired her to pursue doula work.
During 2020 and 2021, Megan and her husband experienced two back-to-back pregnancy losses while she was still completing her doula training. Through those experiences, it became even clearer that this was the work she was meant to do. Her personal journey allows her to support families with deep compassion, empathy, and understanding through both joyful and difficult seasons of parenthood.
Alongside her doula work, Megan is also a trained chef and nutritional coach specializing in natural foods and a holistic, bio-individualized approach to wellness. She believes there is no “one-size-fits-all” path to health and healing. With a personal history of overcoming eating disorders, Megan is also a strong advocate for body positivity, nourishment, and body liberation.

Niki was previously trained as a yoga teacher, and although she does not currently hold a certification, she enjoys bringing her knowledge of mindful movement and guided meditation with her when supporting clients.
When not working, Niki could be found cuddling with her rescue dog, skiing with her husband, or taking aerial classes on the trapeze and split silks.

Randi S.
Postpartum Doula
she/her
Randi is a mom of two and certified postpartum doula. She has spent the majority of her life working with children of all ages and abilities in numerous settings.
Before becoming a mother, Randi had a career in Applied Behavior Analysis, working with neurodivergent and Autistic children from infancy through young adulthood.
After her own complicated journey through conception and pregnancy, experiencing a difficult postpartum time and spending six years as a stay at home mother, Randi found herself longing to provide new parents with the knowledge, help and support she knew would have greatly benefited her and her family. Randi began supporting her friends and family members through the newborn phase and loving every second of it! As more people began to lean on Randi for guidance, she realized that she had finally found her passion in her own life through this work. Because of these experiences as well as her own, she pursued an education as a birthworker focusing on the postpartum experience. As your postpartum doula, Randi looks forward to providing emotional, physical and informed support to help ease this transitional phase of life.
Advice to families: The time when a baby is first brought home is a time of adjustment for the whole family. Allow yourself to process these changes and give yourself grace through the journey. You are exactly the right parent for your child.
Randi has a passion for hiking mountains in the summer and skiing down them in the winter! Getting out into nature and challenging her mind and body has always been cathartic and her favorite way to reconnect with herself.

Rosie K.
Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula
she/her
Rosie is a Boston-based birth doula who received her training from DONA International. Her mother, a professional advocate, immersed her in the world of fertility and reproductive healthcare at a very young age. As such, she has long been aware of the many varied and important choices people face around birth and family building. Her desire to help birthing individuals on a broader scale was further sparked after supporting her sister during birth.
As a doula, Rosie specializes in offering holistic support, with a focus on queer and non-traditional family structures. As a member of the polyamorous and queer communities herself, she has seen firsthand how much more advocacy is needed to ensure affirming, informed, and empowering birthing experiences for all. She prioritizes supporting families in identifying their already existing strengths and using those skills to support each other.
When she’s not doula-ing, you can often find Rosie by the water, reading, or spending time with her favorite humans and animals. She is child-free by choice, and she believes that it is an honor to help bring children into the world and support individuals in their birth journey. It’s a privilege she holds with great care.
